As of caGrid 1.2 caGrid provides 2 types of 3rd party transfer mechanisms. The original GridFTP based Bulk Data Transfer and the new http based caGrid Transfer. The original BDT might still be used for very performance intensive transfer requirements such as parallel or striped data transfer, however, the new caGrid Transfer mechanism should satisfy more than 90% of the transfer use cases and is much simpler to use as well as cross platform and secure.
